History

BioCoin 2007 - already the fourth International Natural Sciences Students Conference organized by students’ representative office of Vilnius University. Although Conference’s history started as a part of GaDi (The Days of Naturalists), it became separate and every year waits for guests renewed and hardened.
The first conference held in 2004 was a special event of GaDi and had a title Science and Protection of the Environment. That year our conference enjoyed several guests from 4 neighbour countries and was divided into two sections: Science and Environment. The first section - Science included presentations related with genetic and microbiology. Themes related to nature and its changes took place in section Environment.
2005 was the first year when the conference was organized separately from GaDi events. It was named International Natural Sciences Students Conference and divided into three sections: A - for molecular biology and biophysics, B - for classical biology and C - for geography and geology. There were about 40 speakers from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Norway which presented their work and were evaluated by competent commission.
Last year the structure of the Conference stayed the same. About 30 students from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Greece, Poland and Austria showed interest and arrived. Their presentations were also evaluated and as well as previous participants they got back home with new contacts from all over the Europe and more proficient in presenting their work.
After presentations all participants could spend a good time in evening parties. What is more, everyone could find famous Vilnius places during excursions and to see Vilnius old town during leisure time.
We hope that this year our Conference, starting with a new title - BioCoin will be not least but even more successful than the previous ones. Join us and we will create the history together.
